The first PDF shows The Salvation Army soliciting funds from Veterans and Veteran groups via both their telephone and mail marketing. This was done out of the Omaha, NE office (Divisional Headquarters). On page 4 of the report is a letter that went along with a donation from a sister of a Veteran who donated money in his name. It starts off "Per our telephone conversation", and goes on to say "I would like this to be earmarked for Veteran Services (which The Lincoln Salvation Army does not have).
Page 3 of the report shows one of The Salvation Army's "Matching Gift" solicitations to a disabled American Veterans group. Page 5 of the report clearly shows that money being deposited into The Salvation Army's unrestricted funds (The General Account) to be used however the Lincoln Salvation Army commanding officers want. I find it sickening that real Army Veterans are donating money to The Salvation Army only to have their funds misused. There is no "matching" $500.00 in the deposit nor is their for any of the other Military Veteran donations.
There is also audio of a couple who came into The Salvation Army in Lincoln to donate $1,000.00 to help veterans because they believed this amount would = $2,000.00. Nobody at the office knew what they were talking about but the man said he had given Major Mark Anderson money before and that he would come back the next day. The next day when the Major's were back in the office Major Mark deflected and said he would handle it and that he knew the guy. Sadly the guy didn't know Major that well or he wouldn't be giving him money!
The LES PDF is being redacted. There are two files showing funds we received from the local government and The United way for $43,984.00 which more than covers the assistance given out (less than $10,000). These are just two grants used for utilities, more will be posted in the full report.
